A few simple guidelines to help keep our drawing sessions comfortable, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone.
Respect for the Model
- Please do not photograph or record the model while they are posing, unless they have explicitly given permission.
- Treat the model with respect. Please avoid comments or conversation about their body or appearance that could make them uncomfortable.
- Do not touch the model or their belongings without permission.
- Remember that the model is a participant in our creative community, not just the subject of a drawing.
Respect for the Your Fellow Artists
- Give fellow artists space to focus and work.
- Keep conversations and movement to a minimum during poses.
- Please don’t block another artist’s view or move their belongings without asking.
Studio Etiquette
- Please arrive and settle in before the session begins when possible.
- Doors open 30 minutes before the event, and close 30 minutes after the event ends.
- If you need to leave or move around, do so quietly and thoughtfully.
- Follow any specific instructions from the session organizer or model.
- During the drawing session, if you need to take a phone call, please take it outside of the studio.
Leave the Studio Better Than You Found It
- Keep your workspace tidy and clean up after yourself (for example, wipe up any charcoal or paint left on the tables/chairs/horses).
- Return shared supplies and furniture to their proper places.
- Dispose of trash and art materials appropriately.
Most Importantly
Be kind, be respectful, and help make the studio a place where everyone feels comfortable creating.
If you’re ever unsure whether something is appropriate, prioritize respect for the model, your fellow artists, and the shared space.
